About this trip
Same lagoon, same pod, sooner. The standard 50-passenger boats reach Shaab El Erg around 10:30. A private 8-seat speedboat (your group only, no sharing) puts you in the water at 09:00, before the engine noise of the big fleet drives the dolphins toward the deeper edge of the reef. The whole 4-hour trip stays private to your party.

Trip-specific questions
Why does early arrival matter for dolphins?
The pod rests in the inner lagoon from sunrise until the big-boat engines push them out around 11:00. A 09:00 splash time means an hour and a half of quiet water with the dolphins still nearby. Once a dozen boats are anchored, the pod tends to move to the outer reef.
Does the speedboat ride scare the dolphins?
No. We cut the engines a full kilometre from the lagoon edge and drift in. The dolphins are habituated to boats arriving, what they react to is engine noise inside the lagoon, which is why we kill it.
How many guests on the speedboat?
Hard cap of 8, and the whole boat is private to your booking, no strangers on board. No standing room, no fin queue, you board a numbered seat with a dry bag locker.
Is the crossing rougher than the group boat?
Yes, the smaller hull rides waves harder. We cancel rather than push through real chop, so if we sail, conditions are workable. Sit toward the stern and wear a sea-band wristband if you are prone to motion sickness.
